The Mitzvah Volunteer Project

bat mitzvahAriella’s Friendship Circle is at it again. And by “it” I mean doing awesome things for the community at the Long Island Jewish Center! The Friendship Circle will launch the Mitzvah VolunteerĀ  Project beginning in March. The project will give volunteers an opportunity to learn more about those will disabilities. Those who participate will not only learn about the various types of disabilities, but how to properly interact with people who have special needs.

The Chai Center says, “The Mitzvah Project will teach the art of giving, volunteering and making a difference in the world today.” The Project is intended for those ages 11-13 and qualifies as a Mitzvah project and community service hours. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our children to learn about those who may seem different from themselves. It teaches them the sensitivity necessary for interacting with persons of special needs.

The Project will be every Monday in March from 7-8:30 pm. Please contact the Friendship Circle to find out more information and to let them know you wish to participate in the project. Not only is it a chance to prepare for your bat or bar mitzvah, it’s a chance to give back to the community and to make a difference in someone’s life.
